Tom Kerridge confirms launch of the Butcher's Tap and Grill in London
Tom Kerridge has confirmed the Butcher's Tap & Grill is due to open later this year in London's Chelsea after rumours of the launch circulated in April.
The chef had incorporated the Butcher's Tap & Grill (Chelsea) on Companies House at the time, which sparked speculation of a second site.
He opened the first Butcher's Tap & Grill in Marlow in 2017, which was a partnership with pub group Greene King. The outlet operates as a butcher's and bar during the day and becomes a traditional pub after 5pm, offering simple, meat-led food.
The menu at Butcher's Tap & Grill Chelsea will be wet-led, offering a selection of British-centric butcher-cuts, burgers, hot dogs and small bites, such as grass-fed beef rom HG Walter and Dovecote Farm and Longland Farm duck.
Drinks such as Marlow favourite Rebellion Lager and wines selected by Gavin Hills from the two-Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers will also be available at the 100-cover site.
Butcher's Tap & Grill Chelsea will occupy a 3,600sq ft, two-storey Victorian property, which previously housed the Queen's Head pub.
Following the redesign, the pub will feature a focal hardwood bar, chestnut leather booth seating and a bespoke timber staircase. There will also be an open plan kitchen equipped with meat-ageing fridges.
The pub will open for lunch and dinner and serve a Sunday roast, as well as offering takeaway services.
Kerridge said: "We are delighted to have secured such a prestigious location for our second Butcher's Tap & Grill. The pub will be a spin off from the original, in that it is not a carbon copy of the Marlow pub, more emphasis will be placed on drinks and the bar in Chelsea and we will not offer a takeaway butcher's service, but guests will be able to choose their cuts from the meat fridge.
"We very much want to be a local's local, somewhere to pop in, have a pint, watch some sport have a bite and relax. We will also be dog friendly so well behaved four legged friends are very welcome too!"
The Chelsea opening will be Kerridge's third venue in London, joining Kerridge's Bar & Grill, which opened at the Corinthia hotel in Whitehall in 2018 and Kerridge's Fish & Chips, which opened at Harrods' dining hall in 2021.
