MasterChef: The Professionals finalist Sven-Hanson Britt smashes £30,000 crowdfunding bid

MasterChef: The Professionals finalist Sven-Hanson Britt has smashed his £30,000 crowdfunding bid for the London residency of restaurant concept Oxeye.

Britt, who last month was crowned champion of MasterChef: The Professionals, Rematch 2019 after going up against Adam Handling, Dean Banks, Matt Worswick and Michelle Trusselle, hopes to open the residency in the next few weeks.

The move comes as he continues to work towards the opening of a permanent site in Melbourne Hall, Derbyshire.

Oxeye will be a farm to table restaurant celebrating the produce grown on the Melbourne Estate and from some of the best farmers and suppliers in the UK. Britt combines influences from kaiseki cuisine with British ingredients.

Announcing he had reached the target Britt said: "We hit our target! Thank you so much everyone."

The Derbyshire site is expected to open in 2021, with Britt saying he will look to run both in tandem during that year.

Rewards for pledges to the campaign include meals at the restaurants as well as one-off experiences including a dinner cooked by Britt, fellow Masterchef: The Professionals finalist Adam Handling and host Monica Galetti.
