Hilton Sheffield to reopen as the Quays hotel
The former Hilton Sheffield, which closed just before Christmas last year affecting more than 100 employees, is set to reopen next month.
Legacy Hotels & Resorts has been appointed to manage and reopen the property, following its recent sale to an undisclosed buyer, as the Quays hotel.
The 128-bedroom site closed on 15 December. It was previously managed by Hilton on behalf of Park Victoria Quays Lessee, a subsidiary of US-based Park Hotels & Resorts, which declined to comment on the decision to surrender the lease of what was its only UK property.
Legacy Hotels & Resorts chief executive Andy Townsend said: "We are delighted to have been appointed to take on the management of the former Hilton hotel on behalf of the new Sheffield-based owning company. Having previously worked for Stakis Hotels back in its day I recall the hotel's opening with fondness and the enthusiasm it drove to that part of the city – I hope in time we can re-kindle those emotions and support.
"We are currently evaluating branding options to support the development of the business moving forward and suspect we will come to some early decisions very soon."
Christie & Co advised the freeholder on the sale of the hotel.
Legacy also operates Chilworth Manor in Southampton; Wychwood Park hotel in Crewe, Cheshire; and the Rose & Crown in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
