Restaurant Manager of the Year 2016 open for entries
The search is on for the 2016 Restaurant Manager of the year.
Run by the Academy of Food & Wine Service (AFWS) in partnership with The Caterer, the competition recognises restaurant managers and those who are responsible for business performance, managing people and staff training.
Talented front of house staff from across the restaurant sector are encouraged to enter, with tasks designed to test those from fine to casual dining businesses.
This year the award, sponsored by Bunzl and Virgin Limited Edition, will include a live element to test the finalists' communication, service skills and ability to deal with a modern hospitality environment. Competitors will also be tested on their all-round knowledge and general business acumen.
Last year's winner, the Arts Club brasserie general manager Ian Sturrock, said the competition provided a chance for front of house professionals to challenge themselves against their peers and broaden their horizons from a daily operational perspective.
He added: "Not only did I learn many aspects of this incredible business that previously I had not been exposed to, but most importantly, I met some phenomenal individuals that are equally passionate about our industry. I particularly enjoyed the fact that the competition embraces all areas of our sector - regardless of the particular type of operation that you are involved in. The competition is fully inclusive."
The winner will be decided at a reception on the finals day at the Courthouse hotel, London, on 14 November 2016.
