Pig at Harlyn Bay opening postponed

The opening of the Pig at Harlyn Bay in Cornwall has been postponed until June due to the coronavirus crisis.

The 30-bedroom hotel, a Grade II-listed house dating back to the 16th century, would have been Home Grown Hotels' seventh property and had brought forward its opening date to 28 April.

However, this has now been pushed back to "probably sometime in June when the situation is clearer".

In a message from Home Grown Hotels, chairman and chief executive Robin Hutson said: "Until instructed otherwise, we will be remaining open and welcoming guests into our hotels, whilst all the time upholding the strictest health and hygiene measures.

"Unfortunately and with a heavy heart we have taken the decision today to postpone the opening of the Pig at Harlyn Bay to probably sometime in June when the situation is clearer.

"We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive new information from Downing Street and work out the best way forward in these times, both for our guests and our teams.

"Our top priority is to keep you as safe as possible if you choose to stay, drink and dine with us.

"We are doing our utmost to ride out this uncertain and difficult global crisis and look after our dedicated team of people to ensure our hotels can and will provide you with a warm welcome escape to the countryside."
