New year, new restaurants, pubs, bars and hotels! It may not be as catchy as the time-honoured 'new me' mantra but we're so excited about what the new year means for the hospitality industry.

Humo, Mayfair, London

Chef Miller Prada has opened wood-fired kitchen Humo in London's Mayfair. The Colombian-born chef will serve dishes inspired by Japanese techniques, drawing on his six years of training under Endo Kazutoshi of the Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda in London's White City and the heritage of his Italian head chef.

Humo is part of the newly formed Creative Restaurant Group co-founded by Misha Zelman, founder of Burger & Lobster, Zelman Meats and Goodman, chef-patron Kazutoshi and managing director Alex D'Aguiar.

The 34-cover restaurant, named after ‘smoke' in Spanish, features a four-metre grill that is powered by a selection of widely sourced woods, such as juniper, British oak, birch, cherry and walnut. No electricity or gas is used as cooking fuel.

A 10-cover chef's table is also available for private dining and exclusive events.

Edit, Hackney, London

Chefs Fabrice Jacquet and Beth Olivier will head up the team at Edit, the 42-cover veg-forward restaurant in London's Hackney. There will be a selection of modern British plant-based dishes and a range of low-intervention wines, local beers and ciders.

Rudy's Leeds

Manchester-based Rudy's Pizza Napoletana will be opening its third Leeds restaurant, following sites in the city centre and Chapel Allerton. The dough is made using Caputo ‘00' flour and cooked in a Stefano Ferrara oven for 60 seconds.

Mister Nice, Mayfair, London

All-day French restaurant Mister Nice has opened in London's Mayfair. The venue has been designed by Victoria Vogel and is spread across two floors. Members of the Mister Nice club will be offered ‘no corkage' benefits and 50 members will receive wines at a low mark-up.

The Tempus, Alnwick

The Northumberland-based Doxford Group will open Tempus, a hotel, bar and restaurant within the grounds of Charlton Hall Estate in Alnwick. The interiors have been inspired by Alice in Wonderland and are due to feature striking colour palettes and lavish furnishings.

Fair Shot Café, Covent Garden, London

Fair Shot Café, a social enterprise business founded by Bianca Travella, is to reopen in London's Covent Garden following its move from Mayfair. The café provides training to young people with learning disabilities.

Archway, Battersea, London

Hospitality company Spook London is to open its first restaurant and wine bar, Archway, under an old railway arch in London's Battersea. Alex Owens, former River Café chef, will offer seasonal dishes and Old and New World wines.

Donutelier by Roladin, London

Boutique doughnut bakery Donutelier by Roladin is to open its first UK store in London's West End.

The founders of Roladin, brothers Kobi Haka and Avi Keinan, have been selling handmade doughnuts and desserts for the past 33 years. They established their first small shop in 1989, which has since grown to over 75 branches in Israel.

Guests visiting their latest London venue will be able to watch doughnuts being made on-site. Each doughnut will be displayed on brass cake stands lit by glass fittings.

Signature flavours include pistachio filled with chantilly cream and marbled pistachio, almond sable and dried raspberries; dulcey peanut caramel with dulcey fleur de sel ganache, peanuts and caramel chantilly; and Pink Royal with wild berry cream and strawberry meringue.

Humble Chicken, Soho, London

Chef Angelo Sato has opened yakitori-style restaurant Humble Chicken in London's Soho. The 18-cover venue offers an eight-course tasting menu inspired by European and East Asian flavours priced at £95 per person.

Birley Bakery, Chelsea Green, London

Robin Birley, founder of private members' club Oswald's, has opened Birley Bakery in London's Chelsea Green in partnership with executive pastry chef Vincent Zanardi. Savouries, pâtisseries and chocolates such as popcorn dragées and fragrant orangettes are on offer.

The Nutella Ring Pizza Café, Carnaby, London

Pizza Pilgrims is to open a Nutelleria outside of its Kingly Court pizzeria in London's Carnaby. Nocciolattes (shots of espresso with a spoon of Nutella) will be available in the mornings, while Nutella pizza rings filled with a choice of chocolate will be available in the afternoons.

Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food, Edinburgh

Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food has opened its second site in Edinburgh, following its debut in the Scottish capital in 2012.

The 90-cover restaurant, situated in the heart of the city's Old Town, offers a selection of small plates inspired by the punchy flavours of India's roadside dishes. The BYOB experience offers lunchtime boxes between 12pm-4pm and a sharing-style menu from 12pm-10pm.

The interior features the brand's signature orange and green colours and large hand-painted wall murals, as well as tabletops made from off-cut British timber waste.

The restaurant honours the country of its roots by adding a discretionary 50p to each bill which goes directly to Scottish Love in Action, a charity which feeds vulnerable children in India.

Gura Gura, Covent Garden, London

The Yards in London's Covent Garden has welcomed pan-Asian restaurant Gura Gura. The 110-cover venue will offer handmade sushi as well as nigiri and sashimi platters, which are paired to an extensive cocktail menu.

Beckford Canteen, Bath

The Beckford Group has opened its second restaurant in Bath, offering an all-day menu, regular specials and sharing plates. The 80-cover restaurant serves its own canned cocktails.

Tozi Grand Café has opened its doors, bringing the northern Italian feel to London's Battersea Power Station. The restaurant offers an all-day dining experience plus afternoon tea from 3pm and an aperitivo menu served from an alfresco terrace.

The Maguro Group has launched a Korean barbecue restaurant in London's Chinatown. The 50-cover grill offers dishes inspired by street food and sharing options. The interior brings Korean pub culture to Chinatown, featuring neon accents and murals.

The Reach at Piccadilly, Manchester

Manchester's city centre will welcome the Reach, a Marriott Bonvoy Tribute Portfolio hotel. The 215-room property will offer a fully equipped fitness centre, as well as a restaurant that overlooks the canal.
