Matt Garland appointed hotel manager at the Greenbank in Falmouth
Matt Garland has been named hotel manager at the Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth, Cornwall, after 18 years at the property.
He was previously assistant hotel manager at the 60-bedroom, four-star hotel, having also held positions such as food and beverage manager, food service manager, restaurant manager, duty manager, and training junior manager.
Garland first started at the Greenbank as a part-time waiter, aged 17.
Ben Young, managing director at the Greenbank Hotel's parent group, the Cornwall Hotel Collection, said: "Matt's career really is a success story within the industry, which has a reputation for catering for stop-gap jobs.
"I'm looking forward to seeing Matt thrive in his new role, as it's an exciting time for us as we continue to develop our offering to match the demand for good food and hospitality in Cornwall."
Garland added: "Being born and bred in Falmouth, I am so proud to be the Greenbank's hotel manager, as it continues to be the heart of Falmouth's community.
"Over the past 18 years of working here, I've come to realise that hospitality is not our rooms or breath-taking views – but the genuine connections we create with our guests and staff. As I step into this new role, I will continue to nurture those authentic connections that we pride ourselves on."
