Founders of Lupins in London Bridge to open second site Pomelo in King's Cross
Lupins founders and chefs Natasha Cooke and Lucy Pedder are to open sister site Pomelo on 9 March, serving "unique modern British tapas" throughout the day at the Courtyard in Goods Way, home to independent operators and creatives in London's King's Cross.
Much like its sister eatery Lupins in London Bridge, Pomelo promises to serve more of the same "sunshine food", including crab thermidor croquettes, a fusion of Lupins' two signature dishes, cavelo nero croquettes and Cornish crab thermidor and their hugely popular cornmeal spring onions with chipotle mayonnaise.
Pomelo's modern British tapas plates will focus on "fresh, flavoursome and sustainable ingredients", with Cooke and Pedder working with the seasons to create bold, contemporary dishes with their own distinctive flavour.
Cooke said: "We're beyond excited to be opening our second site. Much like our beloved first baby Lupins, Pomelo will serve delicious, seasonal small plates, where there is something for everyone. We have been working hard on a new menu and a brand new look which we think compliments Lupins perfectly."
Friends and business partners Cooke and Pedder first came together at Chelsea restaurants Cross Keys and Medlar. They joined forces to launch a bespoke catering and pop-up restaurant company the Cooking Collective.
They opened Lupins in Union Street in April 2017 to positive reviews from the UK's leading restaurant critics including Giles Coren and Marina O'Loughlin who praised its simplicity, delicious flavours and laidback style. It offers a seasonal British menu with global flavours and a focus on sharing plates.
