Big Mamma seeks planning approval for 227-cover Covent Garden site
Restaurant group Big Mamma has submitted a planning application for a third London site, to open in London's Covent Garden if approved.
If the plans are given the green light, the company will combine two addresses – 15 Henrietta Street and 29-30 Maiden Lane – to create a 227-cover restaurant.
The addresses are currently home to men's clothing store the Real McCoy's and cocktail bar Mabel's, reported Eater London.
Details of which Italian region the restaurant will take inspiration from are yet to be revealed but it can be assumed the interiors will extravagant in the extreme, like its sister venues in the Big Mamma portfolio.
The company, founded by Victor Lugger and Tigrane Seydoux, was formed in Paris in 2015 and launched in London in February 2019 to great applause with Italian trattoria Gloria in Shoreditch. It followed up its debut's success four months later with Circolo Popolare in Fitzrovia, which at 280 covers is the group's its largest site in the UK to date.
Big Mamma was contacted but declined to comment.
