Hotel that hosted funeral attended by up to 300 people faces events ban
A Solihull hotel has been barred from hosting events until January 2021 after police broke up a gathering of between 200 and 300 people on Friday.
Police had been called to the event at Castle Bromwich Hall hotel following multiple reports of excessive noise and closed it down.
BirminghamLive reported that music from the event, understood to have been a funeral held in a marquee within the hotel grounds, was so loud it "rattled the windows".
Solihull Council, which has imposed the ban, said the venue did not ask for those who attended for test and trace details and social distancing was not observed.
Castle Bromwich Hall hotel will not be allowed to host any events until 10 January 2021 after breaching the regulations aimed at halting the spread of Covid-19 infections. Solihull is currently an area of national intervention with the rate of Covid-19 at 73 in every 100,000 people and people have been banned from mixing in homes since 9 September.
The venue can appeal the decision through the magistrates' court.
