Carluccio's offers NHS staff 50% discount for 'foreseeable future'
Restaurant group Carluccio's has announced it is supporting NHS staff "on the front line of the fight against coronavirus" by offering them a 50% discount off food and drink in its restaurants.
Mark Jones, CEO of Carluccio's said: "We are all being hit hard by the current crisis, and our thoughts go out to the incredible NHS staff who are on the frontline, working day and night to save lives and help the vulnerable. There is no end date for this crisis and as such, we will be offering all NHS workers a 50% discount for the foreseeable future. We hope that this small gesture can bring a little comfort to our unsung heroes".
The discount includes food and drink purchases made in its restaurants and for takeaway and delivery, via Deliveroo, and on all products including pasta, sauces, rice, biscuits and gifts in its delis. All staff who show NHS ID will be able to claim the discount.
Carluccio's said it is remaining open and following WHO and NHS guidance to ensure the health and safety of its team and guests during "this uncertain time" with "extremely stringent cleaning procedures" being implemented.
Also offering support to NHS staff is Mowgli restaurant group, which has sites in cities including Liverpool, Manchester and Leicester. It announced yesterday that it would be offering free food for NHS staff today before closing all its sites from tonight.
Founder Nisha Katona posted on Instagram on Tuesday: "Any NHS workers dining in Mowgli today and tomorrow with their NHS ID will receive food for free. It is our way is clapping you from our balconies our dear heroes we thank you for all you do and all you will do over the next months."
She concluded: "See you on the other side- we wait for that day - and so much Mowgli love to you all ❤️"
