Just Eat and Amazon announce US delivery partnership
Just Eat and Amazon have announced a commercial partnership that enables Amazon Prime subscribers in the US to access Grubhub+ membership for free.
Those who sign up will receive one year's worth of free delivery and Grubhub+ perks.
Adam DeWitt, chief executive of Grubhub, said: "I am incredibly excited to announce this collaboration with Amazon that will help Grubhub continue to deliver on our long-standing mission to connect more diners with local restaurants.
"Amazon has redefined convenience with Prime and we're confident this offering will expose many new diners to the value of Grubhub+ while driving more business to our restaurant partners and drivers."
The agreement is under automatic yearly renewal, unless it is terminated by either party in accordance with the contract.
Meanwhile, Just Eat also confirmed that it "continues to actively explore the partial or full sale of Grubhub", following criticism from investors.
It comes less than a year after the company acquired the US-based food delivery platform, which led to the creation of the world's largest online food delivery firm outside of China.
The group also reported that orders in North America saw the biggest decline in the first quarter of 2022, dropping by 5% compared to the same period last year.
