At least three pubs close again after Covid-19 cases confirmed
At least three pubs have taken the decision to close temporarily after weekend guests tested positive for coronavirus.
The Lighthouse Kitchen & Carvery in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset; the Fox & Hounds in Batley, West Yorkshire; and the Village Home Pub in Alverstoke, Hampshire all reported that cases had been confirmed on their Facebook pages.
In a post the Lighthouse Kitchen & Carvery said: "This isn't the message we wanted to write so soon but The Lighthouse will be closed due to a customer testing positive to CovId-19. We are slowly getting through our list of customers that were in the pub on Saturday. All our staff are going to be tested and we will reopen when the time is safe to do so."
The Fox & Hounds in Batley said it had been contacted by a customer who had no symptoms when visiting on Saturday, but had since tested positive. The pub added: "Following this information we are awaiting further guidance from NHS and track and trace. Myself and all staff have taken a test today and we should have results back within 48 hours. The pub will be fully deep cleaned and when safe to do so we will reopen our doors."
The Village Home Pub said that some staff were in isolation due to the case, but that customers did not need isolate unless showed symptoms or were contacted via test and trace. The pub hopes to open again on Saturday.
All hospitality venues were requested to take guest details on arrival to aid test and trace under government reopening guidelines.
