Three Mercure hotels up for sale for £10m

Three hotels operating under the Mercure brand have been put on the market, to acquire individually or collectively, for offers over £10m.

The "substantial" hotels in Worcestershire, West Yorkshire and Staffordshire include the 19th-century, 44-bedroom, four-star Mercure Bewdley the Heath hotel, for offers in the region of £2.8m. The hotel is set in around 20 acres on the outskirts of Kidderminster and features a health club and events and meeting rooms.

The three-star Mercure Bradford Bankfield hotel (pictured) is the largest of the three hotels with 103 bedrooms, 12 meeting rooms and a large restaurant and bar. Offers are being invited in the region of £5.1m.

Offers in the region of £2.2m are invited for Mercure Burton upon Trent Newton Park hotel, a four-star, 50-bedroom, Grade-II listed country manor hotel set in eight acres.

It is expected that the Bewdley and Burton properties would attract interest from parties looking to repurpose the hotels.

The hotels are being marketed by Colliers International on behalf of Jupiter Hotels, owner and operator of the properties, and the company's joint shareholders, FICO Holding UK and S Hotels and Resorts.

Paul Barrasford, director in the hotels agency at Colliers International, said the hotels were being offered for sale due to his "client's decision to focus on other interests"

He added: "This has created a rare opportunity to acquire one or more substantial hotels in prosperous trading locations."

Andrew Pring, chief operating officer at Jupiter Hotels said the hotels were "well-established businesses" that had produced "diverse and strong trading performances".
