Three Gaucho restaurants to open over the next three months
Rare Restaurants has announced the opening of three Gaucho sites over the next three months, including its first launches in Wales and the north-east of England.
It comes after Gaucho reported a record-breaking year with double-digit earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) on turnover of £73m, up from £55m.
The 7,000 sq ft venue in London's Covent Garden will serve 120 covers and offer pre and post-theatre dining, as well as breakfast. It will be Gaucho's first London opening since 2009.
Gaucho will also open its first site in the north-east this March in Newcastle (pictured). Sunday Roast and live music be available at the grade-II listed building.
Another Gaucho will open in Cardiff in May, which will be its first site in Wales. The two-storey, 8,500 sq ft site will seat 220. One floor will be open for exclusive hire and will feature two private dining rooms; a Beef Bar; and a cocktail bar.
Martin Williams, chief executive of Gaucho, said: "I'm delighted to announce a wave of new Gaucho openings across the UK, particularly our first London opening for over a decade. With all the headwinds facing our sector (in London more than anywhere else) it would be easy to focus outside of London – but Gaucho was born in the West End.
"We have enjoyed fantastic post-pandemic trading in the capital and are beyond confident that Gaucho Covent Garden will be a triumph. Our recent openings in Glasgow and Liverpool have been incredibly well received and I have no doubt that Cardiff and Newcastle will be too."
Rare Restaurants has a collection of 22 restaurants under the Gaucho and M Restaurants brands.
Gaucho, which first launched in 1994, now has twelve London restaurants and six regional sites in Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Manchester.
