Gordon Campbell Gray's Three Chimneys to close until 2021 as Scottish travel ban comes into force

The renowned Three Chimneys restaurant with rooms on the Isle of Skye is closing until 2021 due to the impact of coronavirus restrictions.

Owner Gordon Campbell Gray said the property will shut on 25 November after travel constraints made it difficult to keep trading.

A statement on the Three Chimney's website reads: "It is with great sadness that I have to announce that we are again having to close our doors. The current travel restrictions and rulings have simply made it impossible to carry on through the next two months and we will be closing after breakfast on Wednesday 25 November.

"We completely understand that getting on top of the spread of the virus is of prime concern and we fully accept that closing at this time is the correct thing to do.

"It is our intention and hope that we will re-open towards the end of January and we will be keeping a watchful eye on progress and will update you on the precise date when it can be certain."

Tougher restrictions come into force across Scotland today (20 November), with a ban on 'unnecessary' travel outside the highest-level Tier 3 and 4 areas.

Many businesses are choosing to close for the winter rather than remain open under the tougher rules, including Gleneagles in Perthshire.

The Three Chimneys was founded in 1985 and was sold to Campbell Gray's Wee Hotel Company in 2019.
