More than 450 restaurants to support StreetSmart's 2020 campaign
More than 450 restaurants, including the Barrafina and Ottolenghi groups, are to support the StreetSmart campaign this year to raise money for those facing homelessness as a result of Covid-19.
From 1 November to 31 December participating restaurants will add a voluntary £1 to diners' bills.
All proceeds will go towards charitable projects helping those living on the streets whose lives have been severely affected by the pandemic.
Restaurants taking part across the country include those within London hotels Claridge's and the Dorchester, two-Michelin-starred Core by Clare Smyth (pictured), and large groups such as Soho House, D&D London and Burger& Lobster.
Glenn Pougnet, chief executive of StreetSmart, said: "The support for StreetSmart this year is humbling. So many restaurateurs are keen to do their bit, even though times are so uncertain and obstacles keep being thrown at them. Their commitment means we can raise vital funds at a time when they'll be needed most."
The charity has raised more than £10.3m since it was founded in 1998, including £760,000 through the 2019 campaign.
Smyth said: "StreetSmart is a fantastic charity helping so many vulnerable people, who need our support now more than ever. It is good to know that we can help those in need by simply donating £1 each time we dine out."
