Sircle Collection believed to be entering UK hotel market
European hotel and restaurant operator Sircle Collection is understood to be launching its first UK hotel in east London.
In a letter addressed to local residents, Bram van der Hoek, chief executive of the Amsterdam-based group, revealed that it was "in the process of bringing forward proposals" for an 80-bed hotel at the Devonshire Square development close to London Liverpool Street station.
The plans involve two buildings belonging to a private members' club receiving a "light-touch refurbishment".
Sircle Collection also indicated that it would provide a food and beverage offer at the hotel for up to 150 covers that would open between 7am and 11pm from Monday to Saturday and until 5pm on Sunday.
The consultation process began last month. Plans are due to be finalised and submitted to the City of London Corporation before the end of the year.
Target planning decisions from the City of London are expected in Q1 or Q2 of 2023.
When approached for further comment on the plans, the Sircle Collection said: "We are unable to share any information at this time."
Sircle Collection was founded in 2011 and runs 13 hotels in cities such as Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Barcelona and Ibiza. Its brands include Sir Hotels, Max Brown Hotels, Park Centraal Hotels.
