Most senior hospitality figures expect Covid-19 disruption to extend beyond the summer
More than three-quarters of senior hospitality figures in Europe expect the disruption of coronavirus to last four to six months or more.
That is according to findings based on the responses of 142 senior figures in international hospitality last week to a Deloitte survey as part of the European Hotel Industry Conference.
Once the outbreak is contained, 31% of the respondents believed the hotel industry will take another 12-24 months to recover. Twenty-seven per cent predict recovery will be another 6-12 months, while 22% believe the bounce back will be much quicker, at three to six months.
When it came to key priorities over the next four weeks, cash management (79%), workforce health and safety (73%), and debt considerations (45%) came top. Other important areas of focus included managing stakeholder relationships (42%) and remote working capabilities (35%).
The widespread hospitality closures were extended to hotels last week, excluding those housing key workers, homeless people or permanent residents.
