Rugby ground, racecourse and food court become vaccination centres
The food court at Norwich's Castle Quarter shopping centre, Taunton Racecourse and St Helens rugby club's Totally Wicked Stadium in Merseyside (pictured) have become the latest venues transformed into mass vaccination centres.
NHS staff started delivering Covid-19 jabs at 10 new large-scale vaccination sites today, each capable of vaccinating thousands of people a week, including Bournemouth International Centre; Blackburn Cathedral; Salt Hill Activity Centre in Slough; the Lodge in Wickford, Essex; Princess Royal Sports Arena in Lincolnshire; the park and ride at Askham Bar in York; and the Olympic Office Centre in London's Wembley.
These join the Nightingale hospital at the London Excel and Manchester's Etihad Stadium, as well as the Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, Epsom racecourse in Surrey and Birmingham's Millennium Point.
Many hospitality venues have offered their premises to assist in the national roll-out of the coronavirus vaccine, including Mercato Metropolitano, which has offered its venues in Southwark and Mayfair, and brewery and pub group BrewDog.
