Roger and Sue Jones to sell the Harrow at Little Bedwyn after 21 years at the helm
Roger and Sue Jones are to sell the Harrow at Little Bedwyn, Wiltshire after 21 years at the helm.
During their tenure the restaurant received a plethora of accolades recognising both its food and wine offering. These included AA Restaurant of the Year 2011, AA Wine List of the Year on two occasions and a Michelin star, which it held for 12 years until its removal in the 2019 Guide.
Sue said: "The decision has not been easy in many ways, but we feel that we have achieved everything we can and more, so it is time to move onto other things.
"Our experience has been made possible by the loyalty and support of our dear friends and family, not forgetting top suppliers, talented winemakers and an amazing trade that has seen us through so many highlights."
The Jones' have placed the 34-cover Harrow up for sale as a freehold, free of tie.
Chef Roger has also worked with many wine trade bodies during his career hosting events as well as judging competitions, including the UK Sommelier of the Year, and writing on the subject.
In 2003 the Jones' set up the Mamba Riedel Decanter Awards, which were followed by the Tri Nations Wine Challenges and Sparkling Sundays soon afterwards. Together with their children the couple started to make wine in South Africa four years ago under the name the Jones Family Collection.
During their time at the Harrow the couple have also taken the time to raise substantial amounts of money for charities including Ty Hafan, NSPCC Wales, Chefs Night Out and the Welsh Guards.
The couple have said they will continue to raise money for good causes, with Roger also set to concentrate on his wine judging, consultancy and writing.
