RedCat Pub Company continues acquisition spree with two south west hotels
RedCat Pub Company has acquired two further hotels in the south west of England after announcing the purchase of Cornwall's Jamaica Inn earlier this week.
The acquisition of Mooreland Hotel and the Swan Hotel by the Coaching Inn Group, which became part of RedCat last August, now brings the total number of pub hotels owned by the group to 32.
The Mooreland Hotel is located in Dartmoor and was renovated in 2017. It is famous for hosting Agatha Christie, who wrote her first novel there. The sale was brokered by Savills, who acted on behalf of the owners.
The Swan Hotel is a 50-bedroom boutique hotel situated in Somerset that recently secured investment for restoration and expansion. The sale of what is believed to be the oldest permanently trading hostelry in the UK was brokered by SSA Hotels.
Kevin Charity, chief executive of the Coaching Inn Group, said: "All three inns are incredibly high-quality additions to the Coaching Inn Group and we are continuing to work alongside RedCat to expand our portfolio in popular holiday locations in the UK focusing on areas of natural beauty. We look forward to preserving the history of each inn, which has served as an attraction for tourists and guests."
Rooney Anand, executive chairman of RedCat Pub Company, said: "RedCat and the Coaching Inn Group are delighted to be increasing our footprint through these exceptional pub hotels.
"Together, we have nearly doubled the portfolio since RedCat acquired the business last year and it continues to go from strength-to-strength. We are confident that our strategy to invest in high-quality pub hotels, offering the best possible service and good value is the right one for customers."
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Coaching Inn Group bought Jamaica Inn, which was immortalised in Daphne du Maurier's best-selling novel of the same name, for £8m.
Since RedCat launched in February last year, it has acquired over 100 pubs and pub hotels, which accounts for over 1,200 rooms.
