'Limit visits to pubs and restaurants' Sturgeon tells Scottish public

"We should all try to limit our visits and social interactions in places like pubs and restaurants," Nicola Sturgeon has told the Scottish people in today's coronavirus briefing.

The comments came after the first minister reported cases of Covid-19 were "on the rise again" across the country and all age groups.

She continued to stress that when meeting others outdoors, groups of six people from two households are the maximum permitted, before adding that visits to pubs and restaurants should be limited and people should work from home where possible.

Responding to the conference UKHospitality's chief executive Kate Nicholls said: "This will devastate businesses that are clinging on by fingertips - this is closure in all but name and we need immediate sector specific support."

Last week Sturgeon had asked students to stay away from hospitality venues over the weekend due to reports of outbreaks in university accommodation.
