P Franco and Bright announce closures

The team behind East London restaurants P Franco and Bright have announced the "abrupt and sudden" closure of both sites.

It comes after the group closed Peg restaurant in Hackney last July due to "strains on staffing".

Wine bar and shop P Franco opened in 2014 in Clapton, while neighbourhood restaurant Bright opened in 2018 in London Fields.

The team also operated wine shop Noble Fine Liquor in Broadway Market, which has also closed.

Posting the news on Instagram, they wrote: "Our hearts are broken, and we are devastated to be making this post. In short—our time in the sun has come to an abrupt and sudden end, we have closed the doors at Noble Fine Liquor, P.Franco and Bright for the final time and they will not be re-opening."

"There are many complex ins-and-outs that have resulted in the position that we're in, we don't feel this is the forum or time to go through those things in detail."

They expressed their gratitude towards past and present staff, the food and wine community of London and beyond, and their guests and customers. They added: "We are incredibly thankful to you all. We'll cherish every memory that we've shared with you."

Responding to the news, food Instagrammer Clerkenwell Boy said: "Absolutely GUTTED to hear this! Thank you for the incredible memories, delicious food, and brilliant wine ofc! Miss you already x"

Laura Christie, co-founder of Oklava, which closed this January, added: "So sorry to hear this, it's an awful decision to make but so much to be proud of."
