Noble Rot to open second restaurant and wine bar in Soho
Noble Rot is to launch a second restaurant and wine bar in the site formerly home to famous political lunch-spot Gay Hussar in Soho's Greek Street.
Noble Rot, created by record label A&R man Dan Keeling (responsible for signing Coldplay, among others) and wine buyer Mark Andrew, made its first move from magazine to bricks and mortar restaurant in 2015, opening in London's Bloomsbury (pictured).
The pair roped in Stephen Harris, chef-patron of the Michelin-starred Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent (and cousin to Keeling's wife), as executive chef, who in turn installed one of his own protégés, Paul Weaver, as head chef. Rave reviews were quick to follow.
Gay Hussar closed the doors in 2018, after more than 60 years in the site, and team behind Noble Rot plans to throw them back open in Spring next year.
In an Instagram post the restaurant said: "It's exactly the kind of building we love – full of period features and worn-in soul. Now begins sympathetic renovations of our second restaurant, with Noble Rot Soho scheduled to open Spring 2020."
