Murano by Angela Hartnett to reopen next month with new head chef
George Ormond has been appointed head chef of the Michelin-starred Murano by Angela Hartnett in London's Mayfair.
He will start the role on 18 September, which coincides with the relaunch of the restaurant following a three-week summer refurbishment, starting from 21 August.
Ormond will take over from former head chef Emily Brightman, who he has worked with since 2021.
Example dishes on the reopening menu are smoked ricotta tart, pickled walnuts and home-cured bresaola; lamb shoulder tortellini with brown butter and sage; and olive oil cake, fig leaf ice-cream and figs.
It comes as the restaurant prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary next month with a redesign from Fabled Studio, which has been responsible for projects including Socca in London's Mayfair and Oncore by Clare Smyth in Sydney.
Murano will pay homage to the island of Murano in northeastern Italy with statement features such as glass chandeliers, carpet reminiscent of the Romanesque Basilica of Santa Maria, and an extended tiled bar.
Hartnett said: "I love Murano, and have had so many amazing people working with me over the last 15 years, some of them who are still with me today! After the refurbishment, I'm really looking forward to a new era of the restaurant with this team."
The restaurant opened in 2008 and earned its Michelin star in 2009, followed by four AA rosettes, both of which have been retained.
