Michels & Taylor shares its hotel reopening plan with the industry
Hotel management firm Michels & Taylor is sharing its hotel reopening plan with the industry in a bid to help other management teams prepare for a relaxation of restrictions imposed as a result of coronavirus.
The comprehensive document, put together for Michels & Taylor's 23-strong managed estate, covers the entire guest journey from check-in to departure, as well as a commercial and sales strategy that hotels will need to consider.
M&T Managed Hotels managing director Peter Hales told The Caterer: "This work has been a joint effort across the business. We set out to come up with something that brings together all considerations, so this is a mix of information that will be of use to independent, branded and five-star hotels."
The plan outlines an operational and commercial checklist of issues to consider, structured as a workstream tool that covers everything from marketing and messaging, through hotel etiquette and distancing to departure.
Hales added that the plan identified what Michels & Taylor believe to be the key areas for the reopening of a hotel, but that was up to the user to adapt to their property.
He said: "Hotel managers are having to think in new ways and the hotel P&L is going to need to look very different to protect both the owner's interests and assets. In offering our Hotel Reopening Plan outside our existing client base without fees, we're able to share our work in this area and do our part in supporting the industry as a whole."
