Mark Poynton to open restaurant within Caistor Hall hotel in Norfolk

Chef Mark Poynton is to open a restaurant within Caistor Hall by Brasteds country house hotel in Norfolk.

Mark Poynton at Caistor Hall will open in February 2023 offering tasting menus only at both lunch and dinner.

The head chef will be Byron Franklin who is currently working alongside Poynton at his existing restaurant, MJP@TheShepherds in Fen Ditton, Cambridge.

Poynton said his new opening, which is 10 minutes from Norwich city centre, will offer "light but flavour-driven dishes that will change as and when the seasons dictate".

Until 2018 Poynton was chef-patron of Alimentum in Cambridge. He joined the restaurant in 2009 and won a Michelin star in 2012, which he held for five years until it was removed in the 2018 guide.

Prior to this he was head chef of Daniel Clifford's two-Michelin-starred Midsummer House in Cambridge.
