Maggie Jones's in Kensington announces temporary closure

British restaurant Maggie Jones's in London's Kensington has temporarily closed following an electrical fire that took place on 26 August.

It is only the second time that the restaurant has had to shut down since it launched nearly 60 years ago, the first being during the coronavirus pandemic.

Maggie Jones's first opened as Nan's Kitchen in 1964 and was known to have been frequented by Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon. It is currently owned by the Frankel family.

The restaurant said it had received "a huge amount of support and words of encouragement" from its guests since the fire.

The team has urged customers to book a table at Maggie Jones's sister French restaurant La Poule au Pot, also in Kensington, until it reopens after renovation works in time for its 60th anniversary in the first half of 2024.
