Leonardo Royal London City unveils first look at £11.5m renovation
Leonardo Hotels has released images showcasing an extensive refurbishment of its Leonardo Royal London City hotel, one of three Leonardo Royal central London properties to be added to the Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland portfolio in 2019.
A large part of the £11.5m investment in what was the Grange City has been dedicated to transforming the hotel's public areas, most notably the lobby and reception along with renovations to the hotel's 307 bedrooms which began last year to produce a new 'relaxed and restful colour scheme, fresh wallpaper and carpets and a range of brand new furnishings' which include bespoke Leonardo Royal Dream beds.
The hotel's F&B offering will debut its Corvo and Leo concepts. Corvo, the Italian inspired coffee, cocktail bar and all-day cafe, will provide Italian light dishes and refreshments for both business travellers requiring working lunches and tourists making a 'pitstop in between sightseeing' at nearby attractions such as the Tower of London and Borough Market , while Leo's will offer a hearty breakfast menu from classics such as Eggs Benedict to a full cooked breakfast, as well as an on-the-go breakfast option. An evening food and drink menu will also be available.
Jason Carruthers, managing director of Leonardo Hotels UK & Ireland, said: "Last year's acquisition of the three central London locations was a milestone which we are very proud of. Since then, we have worked non-stop and have big plans for all three hotels, most notably for Leonardo Royal London City.
The hotel, formerly known as Grange City, was one of four hotels re-branded as Leonard properties following an acquisition by Queensgate Investments which owns Generator Hostels and the Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum. Jurys Inn merged with Leonardo in 2017 when Israeli-based Fattal Hotel Group and Swedish hotel investment company Pandox acquired the portfolio for £800m.
The refurbishment of Leonardo Royal London City is due for completion in June 2020.
