Lancashire pubs and restaurants to come under curfew

Further restrictions have been introduced across areas in the north west of England, West Yorkshire and the Midlands to tackle rising infection rates, with a 10pm curfew to apply to restaurants and pubs in areas of the north west from Tuesday.

Venues including restaurants and pubs will be required to close between 10pm to 5am from Tuesday 22 September in Merseyside, Warrington, Halton and Lancashire (excluding Blackpool). Hospitality for food and drink will also be restricted to table service only and residents will also not be able to socialise with other people outside of their own households or support bubbles in private homes and gardens. This does not apply to Bolton or Greater Manchester, where separate restrictions are already in place.

Real estate adviser Altus Group estimates that around 1,027 pubs and 481 restaurants will be impacted by the curfew.

In Wolverhampton, Oadby and Wigston, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale, meanwhile, residents will be banned from socialising with other people outside of their own households or support bubble in their homes and gardens.

These changes are in addition to the ‘rule of six' which was introduced nationwide on Monday, limiting the number of people who can gather indoors or outdoors to six.
