Joerg Zobel named chief operating officer of Rosewood Hotel Group

Joerg Zobel has been appointed chief operating officer of the Rosewood Hotel Group.

In his role, he will be responsible for the hotel group's global operations across its four brands: Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New World Hotels & Resorts, Asaya, and Carlyle & Co.

Zobel will lead the group's retail and e-commerce teams, as well as Rosewood's global customer relationship management and guest experience teams.

He will be based at the group's Hong Kong headquarters from 25 September, reporting directly to chief executive officer Sonia Cheng.

Zobel was mostly recently chief executive and chairman of the board of Eschenbach Optik GmbH, one of Europe's largest eyewear groups. Prior to that, he was general manager, Asia Pacific for Puma.

Cheng said: "Joerg's many achievements leading global companies to operational and commercial success align perfectly with the ambitious vision we've set for Rosewood Hotel Group as we continue to expand beyond traditional hospitality.

"We've chartered a new path for Rosewood across multiple touchpoints of the business, and we are confident Joerg will drive our operations to deliver on this vision."

Rosewood Hotel Group operates 46 hotels, resorts and private members clubs and currently has 38 projects under development, including the Chancery Rosewood in London which is now due to open in 2025.
