Inigo concept ‘not completely dead' say liquidators
The liquidators of sushi handroll company Inigo have said although the company is in liquidation, discussions are ongoing.
Ian Robert of Kingston Smith & Partners was appointed liquidator of Inigo, which had one grab and go kiosk in the City of London, on 19 August, one year after the group sought to raise £350,000 via a crowdfunding campaign to expand the business.
"Whilst it's in liquidation and it doesn't have staff, there's still a product out there and a brand, there are some discussions that are going on where there is a possibility that you may see a product like that in the future somewhere at some point," said Robert, speaking to The Caterer.
"Those discussions are still fairly early stages, but it would be a shame if the whole enterprise was wasted and not reincarnated in some way."
He added: "It just didn't have the right operating capital to keep going. There was a lot of prep work in getting the business ready and not enough capital to get it to sufficient sales."
Despite ambitions to grow to three across the capital in high footfall locations and a further site in a food hall by this year, with further expansion thereafter on the cards, only one Inigo kiosk opened in the City of London, and there are currently no plans to reopen this site.
The company was founded by Melbourne lawyer Jeremy Bliss and Charlie Hall, supported by business partner Theo Bennett, a former PR and restaurateur, and chef Terry Edwards.
