Bolton Whites hotel saved in eleventh-hour club sale

The Bolton Whites hotel has been saved, along with Bolton Wanderers Football Club, following an eleventh-hour sale to Football Ventures.

The 125-bedroom hotel, situated within the University of Bolton Stadium, and the club have both been sold to FVWL, a subsidiary of Football Ventures.

The sale has saved the club from expulsion from the English Football League and liquidation, as well as the jobs of at least 100 employees of the hotel.

The hotel had closed on 1 May due to financial difficulties and reopened two weeks later following the appointment of Quantuma partners Andrew Hosking, Sean Bucknell and Michael Kiely as joint administrators on the business two weeks later.

Hosking said: "The joint administrators would like to thank all staff for their commitment and ongoing hard work during what has been an extremely stressful time, and wish the new owners every success for the future."

The joint administrators were assisted in the negotiations by legal advisers Phil Farrelly and Dave Gledhill of Bermans.
