Hospitality expected to be hit by tougher tier restrictions post-lockdown

The hospitality industry in England is expected to be hit by tougher tier restrictions once the country comes out of lockdown in December.

Although the 10pm curfew is expected to be changed to allow last orders at 10pm ahead of an 11pm closure order, The Telegraph reports pubs and restaurants will bear the brunt of restrictions so that shops, cinemas and gyms can reopen and families will be able to mix during Christmas.

It is expected that hospitality businesses in Tier 3 will only be allowed to offer takeaways, when before only pubs and bars in this tier were required to close, while those in Tier 2 will only be able to serve alcohol with substantial meals.

The prime minister is expected to make an announcement this afternoon on the new tier system post-lockdown.
