Head chef Nick Bennett to bid farewell to Sudbury House Hotel
Nick Bennett will bid farewell to the Sudbury House Hotel in the Cotswolds, in October, the head chef has announced.
Bennett (pictured, right) had joined the hotel in 2014, with then executive chef Andrew Scott (pictured, left) promoting him to head chef of its three-AA-rosette Restaurant 56 in 2016.
Scott left the restaurant, in the four-AA-silver-star, 50-bedroom hotel, in January this year to join Miele GB as a development chef. Shortly after his departure the hotel announced that going forward Restaurant 56 would be focused on afternoon teas, special events and private functions, with the more informal two-AA-rosette Magnolia restaurant becoming its main dining space.
Bennett posted news of his departure to social media: "I have achieved some amazing things at Restaurant 56 alongside Andrew Scott and the team. I was a finalist in Masterchef: The Professionals and I also met my wife here and began raising our son Maeson, with another baby on the way.
"The time has come for a new start, with fresh and exciting challenges, which will push my career further forwards. It's time to get back to the kitchen environment I enjoy and cooking the food I love."
He added: "I wish the team at Sudbury House hotel the best for the future and it will always have fond memories in my heart."
In 2015, Bennett reached the final round of the BBC One's MasterChef: The Professionals alongside Mark Stinchombe and Scott Barnard. He narrowly missed out on the title to Stinchombe.
The chef said he would announce his future plans in due course.
