Harts Group reveals opening date and menu for Bar Daskal in Borough Yards
Harts Group has revealed further information about the launch of its new Spanish wine bar concept Bar Daskal in London.
The venue will launch in the Borough Yards development on 15 June and is named after Vladimir Daskaloff, the artist grandfather of the company's founders Sam, Eddie, and James Hart.
It will trade alongside new Barrafina and Parrillan restaurants, which Harts Group is due to open at Borough Yards this spring.
Bar Daskal's wine list will be a mix of staples found at Barrafina and Parrillan, with some ‘by-the-glass surprises' starting from £6.50 designed to match with light tapas dishes.
Sherry will start at £7.50 for a glass and £48 for a bottle and there will be a short list of cocktails such as the Agua de Valencia (£11), made with gin, blood orange and Cadiz fizz.
Bar Daskal will serve snacks and cold tapas dishes ranging from olives, almonds and crisps to chorizo Ibérico; Mojama (air dried tuna) with olive oil and hazelnuts; and a ‘Coca of the day' (a type of Mallorquin cheese-less pizza).
James said: "The aim was to design a place where my grandfather's art would feel very much at home but also somewhere that felt right for Park Street in Borough - a cosy, drinks-led space with warm lighting, tactile surfaces, and soft edges. Half the area is seated, and half is for standing, but all of it should feel homely, relaxed and transportive."
Bar Daskal will show a rare permanent exhibition of Daskal's artworks, which have largely been in private collections until now.
The main bar will be for walk-ins only but an upstairs private events space will be available to book from 1 July onwards for up to 25 people.
