Hall & Woodhouse buys 10 pubs as part of estate expansion

Independent family brewer Hall & Woodhouse has purchased 10 pubs and revealed additional plans "to grow [its] existing estate".

Recent acquisitions included Masons Arms, Odcombe, Somerset; Hit or Miss, Amersham, Buckinghamshire; Old Ship Aground, Minehead, Somerset; and the Dolphin hotel, Bovey Tracey, Devon.

The group also revealed that there were more sites in the pipeline, including in Devon, Dorset and Surrey.

Hall & Woodhouse, stewarded by seventh generation owners Anthony Woodhouse and Mark Woodhouse, was founded in 1777 by Charles Hall, a Dorset farmer.

Since then, the business has grown into approximately 170 pubs that make up its managed house and business partner estate.

Earlier this year, Hall & Woodhouse sold a small number of pubs to reinvest in assets that were "better aligned to the business' long-term strategy".

Mark James, property director at Hall & Woodhouse, said: "We are seeing some good opportunities at the moment, and our recent acquisitions add real quality, with many located in popular tourist locations across the south of England. These acquisitions will also significantly increase our bedroom stock.

"Hall & Woodhouse is ending the year in a strong position. We will continue to seek out further opportunities to grow through high-quality acquisitions that complement and enhance our existing estate."
