Gold Service Scholarship deadline for entries 2 October
Aspiring entrants to the Gold Service Scholarship 2020 have until midnight on 2 October 2019 to submit their applications.
Now in its eighth year, the Gold Service Scholarship is recognises talented young, front of house professionals in hospitality, aged 22 to 28.
Ranging from waiters and assistant managers through to sommeliers and bar staff, the Gold Service Scholarship attracts candidates from hotels, restaurants, catering companies as well as other service organisations and venues.
Karen Gruet, assistant restaurant manager at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, took home the 2019 title along with an array of prizes.
These included three work placement opportunities from a choice that featured a one-week stage at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok; a placement during a state banquet at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle; a one-week stage at an overseas Rocco Forte hotel; and a five-day placement at the three Michelin-starred Waterside Inn in Bray, Berkshire.
Commenting on the launch of this year's competition, Gold Service Scholarship trustee and chairman of the judges Edward Griffiths said: "It has been so gratifying and rewarding to meet and mentor so many young people who are dedicated to their particular craft within the hospitality industry.
"Each year, we have witnessed the pride they take in their work, and the appreciation they have for their involvement in the Gold Service Scholarship."
