Goddard & Gibbs at One Hundred Shoreditch closes after six months
Seafood restaurant Goddard & Gibbs at the One Hundred Shoreditch hotel has closed after six months of trading.
The restaurant launched in March at the redeveloped Ace Hotel in London with a 150-cover dining room, 40-cover wine bar and a takeaway hatch.
It got a lukewarm reception from national critics, with the Guardian's Grace Dent writing she was surprised it paid "little care or attention" to fish cookery while the Times' Marina O'Loughlin said it wasn't "exactly rocking the boat".
The space will now be used to host events ahead of the Christmas period.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said: "As of 30 September, the restaurant at One Hundred Shoreditch, Goddard & Gibbs, will close to allow the space to be used in support of the hotel's thriving events business in the lead up to the festive period.
"As many of the staff as possible will retain their jobs within the wider company, taking up roles either at the hotel or at sister property Sea Containers."
The 258-room One Hundred Shoreditch hotel was relaunched this year by the Lore Group hospitality company.
