The Glenburn hotel on Isle of Bute put on market for £1.1m
The Glenburn hotel in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute has been put up for sale after being placed into administration in August.
The 134-bedroom property, which was built in 1843 as Scotland's first ‘hydropathic hotel', has an asking price of offers over £1.1m.
Administrators Stuart Robb and Chad Griffin, partners at FRP Advisory, were appointed last month after the impact of the pandemic led to unsustainable cashflow problems for the business. The property had traded briefly since the start of the first lockdown in early 2020, but has been closed since November 2020, with staff initially being placed on furlough before being made redundant this summer. The administrators have since taken the decision to instruct CDLH Chartered Surveyors to seek a purchaser for the hotel.
The hotel, which was refurbished in 2016, sits on 6.3 acres, and features a 240-cover dining room, as well as a function room for over 200 people and meeting facilities.
Director of CDLH Alan Creevy said: "The hotel has a fantastic situation in Rothesay on the Island of Bute with spectacular views over the Firth of Clyde down to the Kyles of Bute. While having an island setting, the hotel is within two hours of Glasgow and has excellent communication links to major population centres."
