Fred Sirieix announces date for National Waiters' Day

Fred Sirieix has announced the return of National Waiters' Day on 10 September, which he will host in partnership with London Hospitality Festival.

National Waiters' Day will be emerging from its three-year hiatus to recognise hardworking staff in hospitality through a selection of activities involving music, food and drink at King's House Sports Ground, Chiswick.

All attendees will also be invited to participate in the famous race, which will require everyone to carry a tray full of water along a 400m stretch without any spillages. Prizes will be offered for the fastest runner, as well as creative fancy dress.

The 15th edition of London Hospitality Festival will welcome over 2,000 staff from a hundred operators and suppliers in and around London.

The event was established by Fred Sirieix to support industry charity Springboard in 2012.

Sirieix, who was formerly general manager of Galvin at Windows in London's Park Lane and maitre d' of TV show First Dates, said: "It is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the exceptional staff who have worked so hard throughout the pandemic, and to celebrate the amazing work that they do every day."

Paul Gilley, event organiser, added: "We're excited to join forces with Fred again to host the official National Waiters' Day race as part of the festival line up. It's a lot of fun and hilarious to watch!"
