Five people charged for ‘violent disorder' outside asylum hotel

Five people have been charged following "incidents of disorder" outside a hotel housing asylum seekers earlier this year.

On 10 February, a peaceful protest at the Suites hotel in Knowsley "turned violent" after a police van was set on fire and missiles were thrown at officers.

Five warrants were executed in Kirkby amid an investigative police response to the incident, Merseyside Police revealed.

Daniel Fulham, aged 38, Brian McPadden, aged 60, and three teenage boys aged between 13 and 17 were all charged for "violent disorder".

They have since been bailed and will be appearing at Liverpool Magistrates Court on 27 July.
