Chef David Stevens to oversee launch of the Wolseley City in 2023
David Stevens has been promoted to group executive chef of the Wolseley Hospitality Group as it prepares to launch two new London restaurants.
He will oversee the opening of Soho seafood restaurant Manzi's and the Wolseley City in the old House of Fraser building on King William Street in the City of London in 2023.
Stevens previously served as head chef and head pastry chef at the original Wolseley restaurant in Mayfair.
He was born in Brisbane, Australia and later became an apprentice at the Brisbane Hilton under master pastry chef, Walter Peters.
Following his move to Europe in the 1990s, Stevens gained experience at Michelin-starred venues such as Fleur de Sel in Surrey, Dolder Grand in Zurich, and Four Seasons Hotels in London, Dublin, Houston and San Francisco, before joining Caprice Holdings as pastry chef at the Ivy in 1998.
He operated his own business, ‘Proof is in the Pudding', for eight years until 2013.
As executive chef of the Wolseley Hospitality Group, he will lead the next generation of senior chefs and support the head chef team.
Wolseley Hospitality Group was previously known as Corbin & King until Thai hospitality group Minor International took control of the company earlier this year.
