X by Harry Guy to open in September while hotel opening pushed back
The Wildes Hotel Group has announced that its £5m Chester project has been pushed back slightly to further develop the spa offering.
While the opening date of the Wildes Chester hotel will be early 2023, the restaurant, X by Harry Guy, which will sit adjacent to the hotel, is set to open in September.
The luxury boutique hotel will have 18 bedrooms, with revised planning creating an additional bedroom suite, as well as further development of the spa and rooftop vitality pool. Plans also include additional treatment rooms and a thermal suite with panoramic sauna. The proposed rooftop pool will be larger in size and clad in zinc.
Paul Wildes, chief executive of the Wildes Hotel Group, said: ‘'We are thrilled to have been able to further develop different aspects of the hotel, which we know will ‘wow' at every level. Working with period buildings always comes with its challenges, but we are working closely with English Heritage and the Cheshire West and Chester Council planning teams to ensure we are doing everything in our power to create a hotel offering like no other.
"Nearly four years after seeing the site for the first time, we want to make sure that we guarantee an exceptional guest experience and we are more than confident Wildes Chester will be worth the wait.''
X by Harry Guy will be Harry Guy's first solo restaurant. The chef won the 2016 Roux Scholarship while working as support and development chef at the Eden Hotel Collection in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. He also previously worked as operations manager at Simon Rogan's London restaurants Roganic and Aulis London.
The Wildes Group has a portfolio of hotels, restaurants and spas in the north-west,m which include Van Dyk hotel in Chesterfield.
