Three UK hotels to join Marriott International in 2020
Marriott International's expansion in the UK represents a tiny fraction of the group's global growth.
Only three hotels with a total of 303 bedrooms will join the hotel giant in the UK this year, while the total global pipeline at the end of 2019 amounted to around 515,000 rooms.
During 2019, the company added 516 properties with more than 78,000 rooms, resulting in a total portfolio of 7,300 properties with 1.38 million rooms across 134 countries and territories.
Stephanie Linnartz, group president, consumer operations, technology & emerging businesses, Marriott International, said: "Our stellar growth results prove that our broad brand portfolio and platforms are resonating with owners and developers, as well as with customers."
The three new UK hotels for 2020 are:
- Residence Inn by Marriot London Tower Bridge (pictured) – comprising 101 apartment-style suites, the extended-stay hotel has just opened under the management of Kew Green Hotels.
- Abbey hotel, Bath – the 62-bedroom property owned by KE Hotels will join Marriott's Tribute Portfolio collection of independent hotels in the spring.
- Princess Street, Manchester – owned by Aspen Hotels, the 141-bedroom hotel will also join Tribute Portfolio at the end of the year.
Marriott International portfolio is made up of 30 brands including Ritz-Carlton, St Regis, Edition, Sheraton and Moxy.
