London's Sun Street hotel to open next month
The Bespoke Hotels-operated Sun Street hotel is due to open next month, a year later than expected.
Originally due to open in 2021, the property is billed as a five-star luxury boutique hotel on the borderline of Shoreditch and the City of London near Liverpool Street and Moorgate stations.
Forming part of One Crown Place, a new mixed-use development, it has been developed by MTD Group.
Aiman Hussein, director of MTD Group said: "We are thrilled to launch Sun Street hotel at One Crown Place this October. Led by the esteemed Bespoke Hotels team, the new opening is a key ingredient for making One Crown Place a desirable destination where the City of London and Shoreditch come together."
Interior design firm Bowler James Brindley has designed the hotel's 41 guest rooms, including seven suites. All bedrooms will have king-size beds, Oxford pillows, Illy coffee machines, air conditioning, and Penhaligon toiletries.
Chef Stuart Cauldwell, previously head chef at Borough Market's Roast restaurant, has created a menu focusing on seasonal produce. The wood-panelled 40-cover restaurant will offer modern British cuisine and an extensive wine list, with a courtyard for drinks and alfresco dining. A hidden sun deck will be reserved for residents and members, while breakfast, morning coffee and pre-dinner drinks will be available in an orangery, as well as additional lounges and bar areas.
General manager Jake Greenall said: "Sun Street is a hotel with a heartbeat, a place where guests are treated like part of the family, not just a room number. It's a home away from home for our guests, but with the added benefits that a luxury five-star hotel can bring".
Room rates will start from £250 on a room only basis.
Bespoke Hotels was appointed to operate the hotel in 2018, under the management of Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate MTD Group and CBRE. The UK's largest independent hotel group, Bespoke was founded in 2000 by Haydn Fentum and Robin Sheppard, and manages more than 5,000 hotel rooms, 6,000 employees and £525m of assets.
