Storrs Hall owners add Lake District country house to portfolio
The owners of Storrs Hall in Windermere, Cumbria, have acquired the nearby 14-bedroom Lindeth Fell country house for an undisclosed price.
The Kennedy family acquired the Lindeth Fell in 1984 and have sold the business to retire. The hotel has been sold to Storrs Hall, owned by the Hindle family, who will bring Lindeth into what is to become the Storrs Collection, with plans to develop the property.
Andy Nicholson, general manager at Storrs Collection said: "It is a great honour to become the next custodian of Lindeth Fell, Storrs Collection will endeavour to further develop and embellish what is already a great family run hotel."
Lindeth Fell was built around 1909 as a privately owned country house by Pattinsons, a prevalent local house builder, with gardens designed by Thomas Mawson. Today, the property trades as a luxury bed and breakfast.
Julian Troup, head of UK hotels at Colliers, which oversaw the sale, added: "The unprecedented run of us selling hotels in Cumbria continues, this is the 52nd hotel and hospitality sale Colliers has concluded since the beginning of 2021. Lindeth Fell is another iconic country house sale that is in the heart of the Lake District National Park. This instruction went onto the market in confidential fashion and our endeavours produced a diverse range of interested parties."
Melissa Welch of Mills & Reeve advised the sellers.
