Steven Edwards to close Bingham Riverhouse restaurant
Steven Edwards, the 2013 MasterChef: The Professionals winner, is to close his restaurant at the Bingham Riverhouse hotel in London's Richmond at the end of December.
The chef said he planned to focus on his other projects, which include his three-AA-rosette restaurant etch in Hove and the hospitality experience at Brighton and Hove Albion football club ground.
Edwards launched his eponymous restaurant at the Bingham as a pop-up in March 2020, just a week before the first national lockdown.
It proved such a success the restaurant remained at the Bingham for over three years and was awarded three-AA-rosettes.
Edwards will continue his partnership with the Bingham after the closure by offering private dining and catering services for parties of 20 – 40 guests.
"To have achieved three years with a project which started as a temporary residence and opened the week before the first lockdown is credit to all involved," said Edwards.
"As our businesses have naturally evolved, it feels right to now pursue our separate paths so that I can focus on my other projects. I wish the Riverhouse every success with the new restaurant and look forward to meeting guests old and new at my private dining events."
The Bingham will relaunch the restaurant as the Riverhouse in January 2024 with a menu focused on sustainably sourced fish and organic or free-range reared meat, alongside organic, English and biodynamic wines.
Samantha Trinder, co-owner of Bingham Riverhouse, said: "We have loved working with Steven, his exceptional Modern British food has always been so well received. He has been a pleasure to work with, it is rare you get the combination of creative talented chef, astute entrepreneur and wonderful human all rolled into one."
Edwards has plans for further projects which will be announced in 2024.
