Steve Groves appointed executive chef at Glyndebourne

RA Venues has appointed Steve Groves to the position of executive chef at Glyndebourne, the opera house in Sussex, set to reopen this May.

Groves, winner of the Craft Guild of Chefs' National Chef of the Year competition in 2019, previously worked at RA Group's Roux at Parliament Square, which closed last year due to the impact of coronavirus restrictions on the hospitality sector.

He joined Roux at Parliament Square, initially as sous chef, having served previously as sous chef of Launceston Place in Kensington. The move came thanks to his MasterChef: The Professionals victory in 2009. After continuing to work at Launceston Place for a spell, Groves took the opportunity to work with MasterChef judge Michel Roux Jr and his father Albert at the Westminster restaurant in 2010. He become head chef in 2013.

Groves will oversee all F&B at Glyndebourne including the Middle & Over Wallop fine-dining restaurant, Mildmay restaurant and Nether Wallop restaurant all championing seasonal produce from British suppliers.

He said: "I am delighted to join Glyndebourne ahead of the reopening this May. Glyndebourne is an iconic cultural venue in the UK and we are looking forward to providing unforgettable dining experiences in an incredible location after such a hard year for the hospitality industry."
